Yreka Man Dies in Phoenix Car Crash

PHOENIX, Ore. — A car crash on Tuesday, May 13, claimed the life of a Yreka man.

According to the Oregon State Police (OSP), a BMW 3 Series traveling northbound was struck from behind by a Honda Accord, also heading north. The impact occurred as the BMW attempted to change lanes, causing the Honda to roll over and eject its driver.

The driver of the Honda, identified as 45-year-old William Gann of Yreka, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The BMW’s driver, 20-year-old Justine Castaneda of Medford, sustained minor injuries.

OSP responded to the incident with assistance from the Phoenix Police Department, Jackson County Fire, and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT).

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
