NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — A U.S. Postal Service worker sustained serious injuries Monday afternoon after a mail vehicle collided with a semitractor-trailer near Noblesville, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 1 p.m. at the intersection of State Road 38 and Mill Creek Road, approximately 10 minutes northwest of downtown Noblesville. Investigators from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office reported that the westbound semitruck failed to slow down and struck the rear of the postal vehicle, which was stopped to turn south onto Mill Creek Road.

The impact caused the postal vehicle to spin and overturn onto its right side, injuring the driver. The identity of the driver has not been released. Emergency responders transported them to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment of serious injuries.

The Noblesville Police Department assisted with traffic control following the incident, and roads were closed while the scene was being managed.
