Two Mothers Killed in Minneapolis Car Crash
MINNEAPOLIS — Two mothers, Marisa Casebolt, 25, and Liberty Borg, 25, were killed in a car crash involving a fleeing suspect early Thursday morning, authorities said.
The incident occurred when a driver, eluding Minneapolis police, struck their vehicle. Casebolt and Borg were pronounced dead at the scene. Borg’s 6-year-old son sustained two broken legs and a traumatic brain injury, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Emergency crews responded to the crash, which took place on a local roadway. The vehicle involved in the incident was towed away as authorities began their investigation.
Family members of Casebolt expressed their grief. Kelly Mestas, a longtime acquaintance, described Casebolt as a bright and loving individual. “My heart broke… it’s just a horrible incident that should have never happened,” Mestas said.
Casebolt is survived by her partner and two young children. A GoFundMe campaign has been established to support the children’s father with funeral expenses and care. In the fundraiser, Casebolt’s sister, Blaze, remarked on the tragedy, stating, “Two innocent young mothers’ lives were needlessly and unjustly taken.”
Efforts to reach Borg’s family for comment were unsuccessful. However, social media has seen an outpouring of grief from the community as they process this tragedy.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
