Two Dead in Four-Vehicle Crash on Dixie Highway

DIXIE HIGHWAY, Sun. — Two drivers died in a four-vehicle crash on Dixie Highway at approximately 9:50 a.m. on Sunday.

According to authorities, the incident occurred in the 12000 block of Dixie Highway, involving vehicles traveling in both directions. The first vehicle, traveling south, changed lanes and struck a second vehicle. This caused the first vehicle to cross into the northbound lane, colliding with a third vehicle, which subsequently hit a fourth vehicle traveling north. The first vehicle came to a stop after hitting a utility pole.

The fatalities were identified as Gary Wright, 77, of Owensboro, and Tami Jo Hawkins, 63, of West Point. Both victims died from blunt force injuries; however, it remains unclear which individual was driving which vehicle.

The occupants of the second and fourth vehicles were unharmed. No charges have been filed, and an investigation is ongoing. Dixie Highway was closed for several hours to facilitate the investigation but has since reopened.
