KEENE, N.H. — A fatal crash involving a Nissan sedan and a Dodge pickup truck is under investigation after it occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday on Route 9, near the intersection of Whitcombs Mill Road.
According to authorities, two people inside the Nissan died: Heather Badore, 50, of Swanzey, was pronounced dead at the scene, while Matthew Badore, 42, also from Swanzey, was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The family dog was also killed in the incident.
The driver of the Dodge, who was not injured, reportedly lost control of the vehicle, crossing into the opposite lane and colliding with the Nissan. Investigators noted that drugs or alcohol did not contribute to the crash; however, slick road conditions due to snowfall were a factor. The driver of the Dodge was cited for having defective tires.
A section of Route 9 was closed for several hours following the crash. The Department of Transportation reported that the area was clear as of 5:15 a.m. Thursday.
Anyone with information regarding the crash is encouraged to contact Lt. Jason Short or Detective Andrew Lippincott of the Keene Police Department at 603-357-9820.
