Tewksbury police responded to a serious crash on Main Street on Monday morning.
The accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. involving two vehicles. One vehicle was a sedan, while the other was an SUV. Authorities confirmed that two individuals sustained injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Emergency services, including Tewksbury Fire Department and Merrimack Valley Ambulance, arrived promptly at the scene. The collision caused debris to spill onto the road, leading to lane closures in both directions on Main Street. Traffic was backed up for several miles as crews worked to clear the area.
According to authorities, an investigation into the cause of the crash is underway. No fatalities have been reported at this time.
Towing services removed the vehicles from the roadway shortly after the incident, and all lanes were reopened by 10:15 a.m.
