Crash on Interstate 95 Near Veazie Causes Major Traffic Backup

VEAZIE, ME – A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 southbound at mile marker 189 resulted in significant delays on Wednesday morning, affecting traffic between the Hogan Road exit in Bangor and the Stillwater exit in Orono.

Two individuals sustained injuries in the incident, which occurred around 9:00 a.m. According to Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety, motorists are advised to avoid the area as traffic is moving very slowly due to the crash.

The southbound lanes of I-95 cleared around 9:45 a.m., following the arrival of emergency services. There were no fatalities reported, and further details on the circumstances leading to the crash remain under investigation.

Authorities stressed the importance of staying clear of the affected section to allow for the safe clearing of vehicles and debris. A correction was made to earlier reports regarding the mile marker associated with the incident.
