Two firefighters injured in tanker truck crash in Kentucky.

MARION COUNTY, Ky. — Two firefighters were seriously injured Friday evening when a tanker truck from the Raywick Fire Department overturned while responding to a call.

At approximately 5:17 p.m., Kentucky State Police (KSP) responded to a crash on KY 527 (Saint Francis Raywick Road). The firefighters were en route to assist the Loretto Fire Department with a fire when their tanker truck dropped off the right shoulder of the road.

According to KSP, this led to a collapse of the roadway edge, causing the driver to lose control. The truck crossed the road, went off the left side, struck an embankment, and overturned.

The driver was ejected during the crash and was subsequently airlifted to UofL Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The passenger was trapped in the wreckage and was also airlifted to the University of Kentucky Hospital with serious injuries.

The incident remains under investigation by KSP.
