Two Dead in Small Plane Crash at Centennial Airport
A small plane crash near Centennial Airport this morning resulted in two fatalities, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred shortly after 6:20 a.m. during light rain conditions, though the cause of the crash remains under investigation. Douglas County spokeswoman Deborah Takahara stated that the complete investigation could take weeks or months. Details regarding the victims’ identities have not been released.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will lead the investigation. Brian Willie, a spokesperson for South Metro Fire Rescue, referred all inquiries concerning the plane’s flight status to the NTSB.
The single-engine Beech BE35 caught fire during the incident, posing a threat to a nearby structure and a large generator. Responders quickly contained the fire, which was initially reported as an explosion.
