LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A multi-car collision on Saturday near Blue Diamond Road and South Las Vegas Boulevard resulted in the tragic loss of an unborn baby and left several individuals injured.
Chester Dauz, who was with his daughter, escaped serious injuries. However, his wife Rebekah remains in the ICU, recovering from life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash. Rebekah, seven months pregnant, lost her baby boy during an emergency C-section following the incident. Their son Isaiah is also hospitalized, under close observation as he recovers.
According to family statements, the Dauz family was returning from an ultrasound appointment shortly before the crash occurred. The suspect, Maximilliano Chavez, is currently in custody and faces several felony charges related to DUI and reckless driving.
Authorities confirmed that the investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing. Meanwhile, the Dauz family has set up a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral expenses for their lost child and to support their healing process.
In a statement, Marie Dauz-Slife, sister of Chester, expressed gratitude for the community’s support, saying, “Your love has given us strength.”
