TURNER, ME — A tractor-trailer caught fire following a crash on Route 4 Wednesday morning.
At approximately 7:41 a.m., Roger Eastman, 82, of Milan, New Hampshire, was driving a gray Western Star tractor-trailer south when a black 2023 Chevrolet pickup, operated by 51-year-old Fox Kein of Cornish, crossed the center line and struck him, according to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office.
The collision ruptured the tractor-trailer’s fuel tank, igniting a fire that consumed the vehicle. Eastman was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with injuries that authorities described as non-life-threatening.
Both the Chevrolet, registered to Marden’s Inc. of Winslow, and the tractor-trailer, owned by Eastman Transportation Inc., were deemed total losses.
The incident is under investigation. No further details have been released at this time.
