Tow Truck Crashes into Madison Police Squad Car in Monona

A tow truck collided with a Madison Police Department squad car on U.S. Highway 12 in Monona around 2:41 p.m. on October 10.

According to the Monona Police Department, the incident occurred near the intersection with Winnequah Road. The tow truck was reportedly driving recklessly before the crash, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement.

Authorities reported that there were no injuries to officers in the squad car, while the driver of the tow truck sustained minor injuries. Emergency medical services assessed both individuals on the scene.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is leading the investigation into the crash. Witnesses reported seeing the tow truck weaving in and out of traffic prior to the collision.

As a result of the crash, one lane of U.S. Highway 12 was temporarily closed, causing minor delays in both directions. The roadway has since reopened, and no additional vehicles were involved in the incident.
