MADISON (WKOW) — Three people died in a crash on Madison’s southwest side early Saturday morning.
The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victims as Makiewa Turner, 43, and Kadija Barry, 31, both of Madison, and Allen C. Wright, 50, of Fitchburg. A fourth individual, a 39-year-old man, remains in critical condition.
The single-vehicle crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. on the 6800 block of Cross Country Road. According to the Madison Police Department, the group had left a local tavern and was traveling east on Cross Country Road at a high speed when the vehicle rolled, ejecting all four occupants.
Turner, Wright, and Barry were pronounced dead at the scene, with preliminary autopsy results confirming their deaths were due to crash-related injuries. Additionally, a dog was killed in the incident.
Investigators have indicated that speed and possible impairment were contributing factors. None of the occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. The Madison Police Department continues to investigate.
