Three Injured in Fiery Crash on N.C. Highway 109 in Thomasville
THOMASVILLE — A fiery crash on N.C. Highway 109 injured three people, two seriously, on Thursday morning.
According to the Thomasville Police Department, the accident occurred around 10:25 a.m. when 65-year-old Stanely Mitchel of Thomasville attempted to pass multiple vehicles in a no-passing zone. His Ford Fiesta collided with a northbound Subaru, driven by 54-year-old Angela Grubb of Denton, before side-swiping a southbound Toyota Corolla. The Subaru subsequently collided head-on with a Nissan Armada traveling south.
First responders found the Subaru fully engulfed in flames. Grubb and her passenger, 45-year-old Kevin Noe of Denton, sustained serious injuries and were transported to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Dalton Gilmore, 24, of Thomasville, who was driving the Nissan Armada, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Thomasville Medical Center. Both Mitchel and the driver of the Toyota Corolla, 72-year-old Aster Rider of Lexington, were unharmed.
The crash remains under investigation, with the Thomasville Traffic Safety Unit collaborating with the Davidson County District Attorney’s Office to determine if charges will be filed. Authorities encourage anyone with information to contact the Thomasville Traffic Safety Unit.
