NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A 16-year-old driver has been arrested and charged in Juvenile Court following a serious crash on Briley Parkway on Monday evening, which left two teenagers with critical injuries.
Authorities reported the teen faces three counts of vehicular assault and two counts of felony reckless endangerment. Investigators determined the driver lost control while heading westbound on Briley Parkway at the Brick Church Pike exit ramp. The vehicle veered off the roadway, crossed over to the opposite side, struck an embankment, and flipped.
At the time of the crash, five teenage passengers were in the GMC Yukon. Two sustained critical injuries and three others had non-life-threatening injuries. All six individuals, including the driver, were transported to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital for treatment.
A blood sample was collected from the driver at the hospital. The arrest occurred after the teen was released from medical care.
