Steven Roemhildt ID'd as Mankato Man Killed in Elysian Car Accident on Highway 60 in Minnesota

Elysian, Minnesota – Authorities are investigating a Sunday morning traffic accident that killed one person and left one other party injured in Elysian, Le Sueur County.

According to the officials, the deadly two-vehicle accident transpired at about 12:28 a.m., on March 14, on Highway 60.

A 2000 Chevy Impala, driven by Steven Lee Roemhildt, 54, of Mankato, was headed eastbound on the highway when it collided with a westbound 2002 Ford Taurus operated by Jacob Edward Smith, 21, of Lakeville.

Sadly, Roemhildt sustained fatal injuries in the accident.

Smith sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester for treatment.

According to the State Patrol, both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Drugs or alcohol were not suspected of having played a role in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
