State Trooper Injured in South Barrington Crash at Route 72 and Route 59

South Barrington Crash

South Barrington, IL. – An Illinois State Police trooper and two others were injured in a multi-vehicle collision in South Barrington Saturday morning.

According to the East Dundee Fire Protection District, the accident happened around 9:40 a.m. at Route 72 and Route 59.

Five vehicles were involved in the collision. The events leading up to the accident, however, were not immediately determined.

A state trooper had to be extricated from one of the vehicles before being transported to Saint Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman in critical condition.

Two other people were taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin with non-life-threatening injuries.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
