Serious injuries result from fire truck accident in Kentucky

MARION COUNTY, Ky. — Two firefighters were seriously injured Friday evening when a tanker truck from the Raywick Fire Department overturned while responding to a call.

The incident occurred around 5:17 p.m. on KY 527 (Saint Francis Raywick Road), according to Kentucky State Police (KSP). Preliminary investigations indicate the truck dropped off the right shoulder of the road, leading to the vehicle’s loss of control. It crossed the roadway, veered off the left side, struck an embankment, and overturned.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle and sustained life-threatening injuries, prompting airlift to University of Louisville (UofL) Hospital. The passenger was trapped in the wreck and was also airlifted to the University of Kentucky Hospital with serious injuries.

A local fire department initially reported the driver’s death due to misinformation but later retracted that statement. The driver remains in critical condition at UofL Hospital.

The KSP continues to investigate the crash.
