Reckless driving charge dismissed after McMahon's accident resolution.

Vince McMahon Enters Pretrial Program for Reckless Driving Charge in Connecticut

Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon has been permitted to enter a pretrial program to address a reckless driving charge related to a July 24 crash on the Merritt Parkway in Westport, Connecticut.

A state Superior Court judge ruled that McMahon must make a $1,000 charitable contribution and only operate a vehicle if properly licensed and insured. If he complies, the reckless driving charge and an additional charge of following too closely will be dismissed in one year.

Authorities said the accident involved McMahon's Bentley, which rear-ended a BMW and subsequently struck a wooden guardrail. Debris from the crash was reported to have struck a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the involved parties.

During a brief court hearing, McMahon remained silent. His attorney, Mark Sherman, stated that “not every is a crime,” emphasizing that the incident was an accident.

McMahon relinquished his role as WWE's CEO in 2022 amidst an investigation into sexual misconduct allegations, which he has denied. A lawsuit stemming from these allegations is still pending.

McMahon acquired the World Wrestling Federation in 1982 and is credited with transforming it into a global entertainment powerhouse. He has also participated in WWE events as an on-screen personality alongside his wife, Linda, who currently serves as the U.S. Secretary of Education.
