Pilot escapes injury in Concord crash caused by door issue.

CONCORD, N.H. — A plane crash at Concord Municipal Airport on Nov. 2, 2024, was likely caused by the pilot losing control while attempting to close an open door, according to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

The pilot, a 71-year-old resident of Hillsborough, was the sole occupant of the amateur-built aircraft. The NTSB’s final report noted that although the airplane kit manufacturer indicated the plane could be operated with an open door, the pilot reported he may have “overcontrolled” the aircraft during the attempted closure, leading to a hard landing.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is overseeing the investigation.
