Fatal Crash in East Las Vegas Leaves One Dead, Driver Arrested

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A died Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle in east Las Vegas.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the incident occurred around 6:40 p.m. in the 400 block of North Nellis Boulevard near Stewart Avenue. A 2001 Ford Mustang traveling southbound hit a 34-year-old man who was crossing the roadway outside a marked or implied crosswalk.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. This incident marks the 110th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD’s jurisdiction this year.

Authorities reported that the driver, 21-year-old Parker Carreras, remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment. He was arrested on suspicion of reckless driving resulting in death and was set to make his first court appearance on Friday, having posted bond.

The crash is under investigation, and further details are pending.
