Pedestrian Jim Jones, 55, killed in New York crash

FALL RIVER MAN FATALLY STRUCK IN NEW YORK CROSSWALK

A 55-year-old man from Fall River, Massachusetts, was fatally struck by a car while crossing Veterans Memorial Highway in New York on Thursday evening, police reported.

Authorities identified the victim as Jim Jones. He was struck by a Honda Civic at approximately 7:11 p.m., according to the Suffolk County police. Jones was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver, 64-year-old Erin Archibald, was unharmed in the incident. Police confirmed her vehicle was impounded for a safety inspection. It is currently unclear if any charges will be filed against her.
