LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A pedestrian was killed in a crash on Las Vegas Boulevard early Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred around 1:46 a.m. at the intersection of Owens Avenue and Main Street. North Las Vegas Police reported that a woman was found on the sidewalk with critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities stated that a 2006 beige Honda Accord was speeding west on Owens Avenue. Due to stopped traffic, the driver lost control and swerved into eastbound lanes, traveling the wrong way. The vehicle struck the pedestrian, a power box, and a light pole.
The driver and a passenger initially fled the scene but later returned. Both appeared to be under the influence, and the driver was arrested on multiple charges, including DUI resulting in death and reckless driving resulting in death. The investigation is ongoing.
