Pedestrian Fatality on I-12 Early Morning Crash
TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. — A 24-year-old Lafayette man died after being struck by a car on Interstate 12 near Louisiana Highway 1249 early Monday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 1:20 a.m. on October 13, according to Louisiana State Police.
Authorities reported that Dentreal A. Mouton was walking west in the left lane when he was hit by a 2019 Honda Accord traveling in the same direction. Mouton sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was unharmed.
Police are investigating the circumstances that led to Mouton's presence on the interstate. Toxicology tests were administered to both the pedestrian and the driver as part of the inquiry.
The investigation remains ongoing.
