Pedestrian Fatality in New Gloucester Crash
A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle on Lewiston Road in New Gloucester on Saturday evening, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.
At approximately 8:40 p.m. on August 16, emergency responders from the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office and New Gloucester Fire Department arrived at 1100 Lewiston Road after reports of a pedestrian being hit. Gray resident Stacy Strattard, 64, was crossing the roadway when she was struck by a 2016 Ford Fusion driven by 49-year-old Mukendi Mbiya of Lewiston. The Maine Forest Service assisted on scene.
Strattard succumbed to her injuries from the incident.
The Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division, along with the Gorham Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit, is investigating the crash. Authorities confirmed that driver impairment was not a factor, and the investigation remains active.
