Old Lyme Crash Leaves Passenger Seriously Injured Early Sunday Morning

A crash in Old Lyme around 2 a.m. Sunday resulted in serious injuries to a passenger.

According to State Police, a 30-year-old woman from Derby was driving southbound on Four Mile River Road when she lost control, struck a utility pole, and ended up in an embankment.

A 23-year-old man from Old Lyme, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to Middlesex Health Shoreline Medical Center for treatment. He was later transferred to Yale New Haven Hospital, where his injuries are reported as serious.

The driver faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, failure to maintain lane, and interfering with an officer. She was issued a $100,000 bond and is currently held at York Correctional Facility, with a court appearance scheduled for Monday.

The crash is under investigation by authorities.
