METHUEN, Mass. — A wrong-way crash on Interstate 495 early Sunday left one person dead and another seriously injured.
According to Massachusetts State Police, the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on the southbound side of the highway, just north of Route 213. A vehicle traveling in the wrong direction collided head-on with a tractor-trailer, resulting in a fire.
One driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The identities of those involved have not been released.
Emergency responders remained on-site as the investigation continues. No further details on lane closures or towing were immediately available.
The crash is currently under investigation by authorities.
