GREAT FALLS — A motorcyclist died several days after a crash on US Highway 89 in Pondera County on August 16, 2025.
The incident occurred just before 4 p.m. between Pendroy and Dupuyer. According to the Montana Highway Patrol, a 50-year-old man from Shelby was traveling northbound on a Harley Davidson Road King when he drifted off the roadway near mile marker 71.
The motorcycle became airborne and hit a hill, where it subsequently came to rest. The rider was transported to Benefis Health System in Great Falls, where he succumbed to his injuries several days later.
Authorities stated that drugs and/or alcohol were not factors in the crash, and the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
