Ft. Deposit Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash with Tractor-Trailer in Lowndes County

A fatal collision involving a motorcycle and a tractor-trailer occurred in Lowndes County on Aug. 20, 2025, at approximately 11:39 a.m. The incident took place on Lowndes County Road 79, near U.S. Highway 31, about four miles east of Ft. Deposit.
According to Alabama State Troopers, 40-year-old Daniel Gafford was operating the motorcycle when he collided with a tractor-trailer driven by 46-year-old Robin Moore of Luverne. Authorities reported that Gafford was thrown from his motorcycle and died at the scene.
Emergency response teams arrived promptly but were unable to revive Gafford. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and details regarding lane closures or tows have not yet been released. Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
