Motorcyclist Killed in Millsboro Crash Identified
Authorities have identified Brian Irons, 52, of Pennsylvania, as the victim of a fatal motorcycle accident on September 13 in Millsboro.
The crash occurred around 7 p.m. at the intersection of Dupont Boulevard (U.S. 113) and Centerview Drive. According to police, Irons was riding his Honda motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he ran a red light, colliding with a Chevrolet Malibu driven by a 21-year-old Millsboro man traveling west through the intersection.
The collision caused Irons to be thrown from the motorcycle. He was wearing a DOT-certified helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Malibu sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at a nearby hospital.
Dupont Boulevard was closed for more than three hours as the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the incident. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the police.
