Middletown man dies in Summit Bridge Road crash

Man Killed in Middletown , Investigation Ongoing

MIDDLETOWN, DE — A 27-year-old man was killed in a crash on Summit Bridge Road near the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal on the morning of Oct. 10, according to Delaware State Police.

The man, who was driving a Buick LaCrosse, veered off the east side of the road and collided with a telephone pole around 7:19 a.m. as he approached Old Summit Bridge Road traveling north. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have withheld the man's identity pending family notification. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, and Delaware State Police urge anyone with information to contact them or Delaware Crime Stoppers.

No lane closures or additional roadway impacts were reported following the incident. Further updates will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
