Lede: A 78-year-old man died after his ATV rolled over while scouting for deer hunting in Rumford, Maine, on Friday afternoon.
According to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Jeffrey Lang was driving a Yamaha 450 Grizzly on a steep hill near Wyman Hill Road around 12:30 p.m. when the vehicle overturned.
Lang became trapped underneath the ATV. His wife sought assistance, while a nearby resident called 911. Emergency responders pronounced Lang dead at the scene.
Authorities indicated that the steep and uneven terrain is believed to be the primary factor in the incident. An investigation is currently underway.
