LSU Coach Brian Kelly Responds to New Evidence in Kyren Lacy Case
BATON ROUGE, LA — Louisiana State University Football Coach Brian Kelly addressed new evidence on Monday regarding LSU star Kyren Lacy, who is implicated in a fatal crash. Lacy’s attorney, Matthew Ory, presented findings on Houma Television Station, HTV, claiming they demonstrate Lacy’s innocence.
Ory stated that data reveals Lacy was over 70 yards behind the victim, Hall, at the time of the collision, despite eyewitness accounts indicating he passed multiple vehicles prior to the incident. “This is a process that takes time… Let’s just be patient and make sure that all information gets out,” said Kelly.
Lacy was found dead in Houston in April, reportedly from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Following this, the Louisiana Democratic Party demanded an investigation into the accusations against him.
The Louisiana State Police (LSP) stated they conducted a thorough investigation, utilizing crash reconstruction experts. Findings indicated Lacy’s reckless driving contributed to the crash, and an arrest warrant was subsequently issued by the 17th Judicial District Court. “No one disputes that he was behind the crash scene,” LSP reported.
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill has communicated with LSP about an independent review of witness statements and evidence in the case.
As investigations continue, both Lacy’s family and supporters maintain his innocence.
