COLUMBUS, Ohio — A crash involving two semitrailers closed the southbound lanes of I-71 early Wednesday morning.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 3 a.m. at the I-71/Hudson Street exit. One of the semis was overturned, while the other was reported to be jack-knifed. One semi was leaking fuel, prompting a response from the Columbus Fire Department.
Authorities characterized the situation as an “injury accident,” but no individuals were transported to a hospital. The crash led to the closure of the southbound lanes from I-270 to Hudson Street.
The highway was reopened shortly before 7 a.m., following the clearing of the scene. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
