Fort Washington, MD Man Charged After Five-Vehicle Crash Near Rehoboth Beach
A 39-year-old man from Fort Washington, Md., faces multiple charges following a five-vehicle crash on Route 1 near Rehoboth Beach on Oct. 13.
According to the Delaware State Police, Kevin Graves was speeding southbound in a Ford Flex without headlights around 6:37 p.m. when a trooper attempted to pull him over. Graves fled the scene, prompting the trooper to terminate the pursuit after losing sight of the vehicle.
Graves was later seen driving recklessly before crashing into four vehicles stopped for a red light at the intersection of Route 1, Munchy Branch Road, and Miller Road. Following the crash, he fled on foot but was apprehended at the scene after resisting arrest.
One passenger, an 18-year-old woman from Georgetown, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Emergency responders from the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company remained on scene for approximately two hours to assist in the investigation.
Graves was taken to Troop 7 and charged with disregarding a police officer's signal, resisting arrest with violence, third-degree vehicular assault, leaving the scene of an injury crash, reckless driving, and various traffic violations. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and is currently held at Sussex Correctional Institution on a $4,700 secured bond.
