Injuries reported in wrong-way crash on U.S. 63

Two men were injured in a car crash on U.S. 63 in Boone County early Sunday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the incident occurred at 3:15 a.m. in the southbound lane, south of Route AB. The crash involved a 2011 Mercury Mariner and a 2015 Volkswagen Passat.

Authorities reported that the driver of the Volkswagen, a 20-year-old man from Rolla, was traveling on the wrong side of the road. The driver of the Mercury, a 21-year-old man from Jefferson City, attempted to avoid a collision but was unsuccessful. The two vehicles collided when the Rolla driver struck the front of the Mercury.

The Rolla man sustained minor injuries, while the Jefferson City man suffered moderate injuries. Both individuals were transported by ambulance to University Hospital for treatment.

MSHP confirmed that both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. No further updates on the investigation or any road closures related to the incident were provided.
