MAHOMET — Two people were injured Monday night in a motorcycle-car collision at an intersection on U.S. 150.
The crash occurred at 7:08 p.m. at U.S. 150 and Champaign County Road 125 E, just west of Mahomet, according to Illinois State Police. Ryan Holt, 33, of Bloomington, was riding his motorcycle westbound when he attempted to illegally pass Cedric Wilder, 24, of Mahomet, who was turning south onto County Road 125 E.
The motorcycle collided with Wilder's car, resulting in both Holt and his passenger, Jacklyn Sampos, 30, of Mansfield, being thrown from the motorcycle. They were both transported to Carle Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and were reported to be in good condition on Tuesday.
Authorities reported that Holt was issued tickets for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper passing at an intersection, and violating his driver's license classification.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
