Four Dead in Crash on US Highway 93 Near St. Ignatius

ST. IGNATIUS, Mont. — A fatal collision between a passenger car and a recreational vehicle (RV) occurred on US Highway 93 near mile marker 38.5 on August 27, resulting in the deaths of four individuals.

Lake County 911 reported receiving multiple calls about the crash at approximately 5:36 p.m. Emergency responders arrived on the scene to find that none of the four occupants of the passenger vehicle survived.

The RV, which was transporting ten passengers, sustained various injuries among some of its occupants, but all were confirmed to have survived the incident.

Traffic was redirected for approximately three and a half hours as crews managed the scene and conducted an investigation. The deceased have been transported to the Montana State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy, and the Lake County Coroner’s Office is investigating the cause and manner of death.

The Montana Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the crash. Authorities confirmed that the identities of the deceased will be released at a later time.
