MANCHESTER, N.H. — Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was released from the hospital Monday following a crash on I-93 over the weekend.
According to New Hampshire State Police, Giuliani and his driver, Theodore Goodman, were flagged down by a woman who reported a domestic violence incident. After assisting her, they were struck from behind while merging back onto the highway.
Goodman contacted authorities and remained at the scene until troopers arrived. Giuliani sustained a serious back injury and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The driver who collided with Giuliani’s vehicle had no involvement in the earlier incident. Investigators are reviewing dashboard and body-worn camera footage as part of the ongoing investigation.
After the incident, Giuliani attended a Fisher Cats baseball game, which occurred hours prior to the crash.
President Donald Trump announced he will award Giuliani the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor. A spokesperson for Giuliani stated that he is deserving of the recognition for his contributions to society, including his efforts in combating organized crime and his response to the 9/11 attacks.
