Five juveniles injured in downtown New Orleans car crash
Five juveniles were injured in a car crash at the intersection of South Claiborne Avenue and Tulane Avenue on Wednesday afternoon, according to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).
Police responded to the incident shortly before 1:40 p.m. Paramedics arrived on the scene at 2 p.m. and reported significant damage to a Kia Soul, which collided with a street sign adjacent to the 24/7 Discount gas station. An RTA vehicle was also involved, parked beside the Kia.
The vehicle’s hood was extensively damaged, and airbags deployed during the crash. Authorities reported that four victims were transported to an area hospital, while one was treated on-site.
Traffic was redirected to the eastbound and westbound lanes of Tulane Avenue, with South Claiborne Avenue remaining blocked by NOPD. All lanes were reopened by 4:50 p.m.
