Fatal wrong-way crash on U.S. 31 kills 62-year-old man.

WESTFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — A 62-year-old man from Sheridan was killed Wednesday night in a wrong-way crash on U.S. 31, just south of the 191st Street interchange.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Edward Johnson was driving a Chevrolet Cruze southbound when he crossed the median and entered the northbound lanes. His vehicle collided head-on with a Dodge Ram truck near the ramp.

The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office confirmed Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities reported that the occupants of the truck sustained minor injuries; however, the number of individuals in the truck has not been disclosed.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Crash Team is investigating the cause of the collision. Lane closures were in effect as emergency responders attended the scene.
