Hamden Scooter Crash Results in Fatality
A 34-year-old man died Monday evening following a scooter accident on Mix Avenue in Hamden, police stated.
Authorities responded to the crash near the south entrance of the Broadmoor Apartments around 4:40 p.m. Officers found the victim, identified as Shareef Johnson of Meriden, with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the hospital but was later pronounced dead.
Investigators believe Johnson was traveling southbound on Mix Avenue when a vehicle exiting the apartment complex crossed into his path, leading to the collision. The other vehicle briefly stopped at the scene before fleeing.
The suspect vehicle has since been located, according to police. The Hamden Accident Reconstruction Team is conducting a detailed investigation of the incident.
