Fatal crash on Florida Turnpike leads to murder charges.

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WEAR) — A California native accused of causing a fatal crash on the Florida Turnpike has been extradited back to Florida to face charges.

Harjinder Singh, 28, allegedly made an illegal U-turn on the Turnpike near Fort Pierce, resulting in a collision that killed three South Floridians.

Authorities confirmed Singh entered the U.S. illegally in 2018 and now faces three counts of vehicular homicide. He is currently being held on an ICE detainer and could face up to 45 years in prison if convicted.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis described the August 12 crash as “a total disaster” and pledged to ensure accountability. Florida Lt. Gov. Jay Collins personally escorted Singh from California back to Florida, landing at the Pensacola International Airport around 5 p.m. before heading to Tallahassee.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident, with details on emergency responses and road conditions pending.
