One dead, three injured in multi-car crash near Walmart in Warwick, Rhode Island

WARWICK, RI—A multi-car collision resulted in one fatality and three injuries Saturday afternoon at approximately 2 p.m. near the Walmart on Post Road.

According to Warwick Police, the incident took place in front of the city’s Station Two fire department. Authorities reported that a 61-year-old man, identified as Michael Perry of Cranston, was driving north on Post Road when he apparently suffered a medical emergency. This caused him to veer into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with another vehicle and forcing it into a third car.

Perry was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Three other individuals were hospitalized, including the drivers of the two impacted vehicles: 32-year-old Jessel Guzman Luna and 24-year-old Joseph Kemley, as well as a passenger in Kemley’s vehicle.

The crash prompted multiple lane closures, leading to significant traffic delays in the area. Witnesses reported extensive police presence and lengthy wait times.

“There’s a lot of police cars,” one witness noted. “I’ve been here for about an hour now,” added another.

Authorities urged the public to avoid 700 Post Road while the investigation continues and clean-up operations proceed. Further details will be released as they become available.
