Fatal Crash on Route 1 in Falmouth
FALMOUTH, ME — Early Tuesday morning, a single-vehicle crash on Route 1 resulted in one fatality. The incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. when a small sedan struck a traffic light pole and subsequently caught fire.
Investigators reported that road conditions were icy at the time of the accident. Falmouth Police Chief John Kilbride confirmed that they are working with the state medical examiner’s office to identify the deceased, as the victim’s family has yet to be notified.
Authorities indicated that no other vehicles were involved in the incident. The crash scene, located at 309 Route 1, was cleared by approximately 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
