MAUSTON, Wis. (WKOW) — A man driving an SUV died in a crash with a semi-truck in downtown Mauston on Tuesday afternoon.
The collision occurred at 1:36 p.m. at the intersection of East State Street and North Union Street, according to the Mauston Police Department. Officers reported that the SUV had collided with the side of the semi, blocking the eastbound lane entirely.
Witnesses attempted to assist the SUV driver, who was unresponsive when emergency personnel arrived. Despite efforts by paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are withholding the driver’s name pending family notification.
The semi-truck driver was not injured in the incident. A partial roadway closure lasted approximately three hours while officials conducted their investigation.
