MUSKEGON, Mich. — A 72-year-old man died Monday morning after his vehicle crashed into a tree and subsequently caught fire.
According to the Muskegon Police Department, the incident occurred near Getty Street and Keating Avenue. The crash involved only the driver’s vehicle, which left the roadway and struck a tree.
Witnesses reported that several bystanders attempted to rescue the man from the car before emergency services arrived and before the vehicle became engulfed in flames. When first responders reached the scene, the driver was found unresponsive and could not be revived.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. Further details regarding lane closures or towing have not been released.
