Nashville Man Arrested for Fatal Crash in July 2024
NASHVILLE, TN — Anthony Howland, 39, was arrested July 1 in Peoria, Illinois, in connection with a crash that killed Kristie Garcia, 53, on July 26, 2024.
According to Nashville Police, Howland faces charges of vehicular homicide by intoxication and vehicular assault. Authorities reported that Howland was driving a Pontiac Grand Am when he struck Garcia's Kia Soul at the intersection of Lafayette Street and Claiborne Street.
Police stated Garcia was making a left turn onto Lafayette Street at a green light when the collision occurred. She was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries on August 7, 2024.
Howland's blood alcohol concentration was reportedly .18%, exceeding Tennessee's legal limit of .08%. He is set to be extradited back to Nashville to face the charges.
