DUI Arrest Follows EMS Vehicle Crash in Knox County

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Knox County EMS employee was arrested for on Wednesday night following a crash involving an EMS vehicle.

Authorities responded to the incident at approximately 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Paynes Creek Road and KY 1304. Upon arrival, they encountered Steven Jones, who they noted appeared to have been consuming alcohol.

Jones reported that while attempting to avoid a deer, he “may have struck a street sign.” Law enforcement observed damage to the passenger side of the EMS vehicle.

During the investigation, field sobriety tests were conducted. When questioned about his alcohol consumption, Jones admitted to drinking three “big Coors beers.” He was subsequently arrested and taken to the Knox County Detention Center, where a breath test yielded a blood alcohol content of .140.

No injuries have been reported. The incident remains under investigation by local authorities.
