Car Crashes into Historic Brewery Building in Hartford, Driver in Custody

HARTFORD — A car crashed into the former City Steam Brewery building on Main Street early Wednesday morning, resulting in one driver being taken into custody, according to authorities.

The incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. The driver initially fled the scene but has since been apprehended. Specific charges against the individual have yet to be confirmed.

Firefighters reported significant damage to the brewery, along with two parked vehicles, a city light pole, and a solar parking meter also sustaining damage. No injuries have been reported as a result of the crash.

City Steam Brewery, which operated for 26 years, closed in 2024 after its long history as a popular local venue.

Authorities are investigating the incident further.
